Yu-Gi-Oh! Bunkoban 19 - Bobasa

So last weekend I went ahead and bought the rest of the Millennium World Arc as bunkoban (in fact all I’m missing now are some Battle City volumes - I found a load of volumes half price in a Book Off in Shinjuku 8D)

As I figured, it is indeed the arc with the highest number of new pages (in fact the only arc as I haven’t checked the others thoroughly yet!).

But first to what has changed! Now I admit I didn’t photograph a couple of pages when Bobasa has whipped out the Millennium Key and Scales inside the museum but you get the idea by that point!

So for images 2 through 7 you can see the otriginal manga on the right and the bunkoban on the left. Let’s play the spot the difference!

Ok so it’s obvious. Bobasa has gone from having sunken portions of his chest that fit the items to having this weird metal shirt thing that the items slot into. Makes slightly more sense on apart from being a magical being not sure how you’d end up with a chest like that! And I can’t imagine a sunken chest was actually very grippy as far as holding onto the items go.

And finally we have two new pages. So this is after Yami has travelled to the Millennium World and Bobasa has transported Yugi and co to inside the Puzzle. As a quick reminder Ryou ran out the museum crying as the Millennium Scales tipped when faced with him on account of him having the Ring/Yami Bakura hanging around.

Also a reminder that Ryou WAS IN HIS SCHOOL UNIFORM. I don’t know if Takahashi-sensei just forgot to check the manga before drawing new pages?? Or if Yami Bakura is just that much of a freaking nerd that he had to go change into his stripey top, black trench coat and trousers that certainly aren’t the school uniform ones. But for whatever reason when Yami Bakura comes in at I dunno maybe a max of 15/20 minutes later he’s wearing different clothes. I guess it’s to make sense with the tabletop RPG pages later where Yami Bakura is in his stripey top/trench coat outfit but at least then it was less obvious about the change in clothes!

We then see him take the Puzzle (integral to his whole dark tabletop RPG thing). And I guess actually making the point that Shadi is a spirit/dead? Unlike when Yami Bakura was cut off before explicitly stating it back in Batte City when Shadi was mentioned by Malik beforethe Yami Malik vs Yami Bakura + Malik duel. You can find that page here (ok so there’s no hint that that is what Yami Bakura is going to say but given that we find out later that Shadi is a spirit - I forget what is stated in the manga exactly - it’s a safe guess, I think.)

But yeah, more pretty pages and damnit I wish Takahashi-sensei would redraw this manga!
